Buxton Election Warden Hiram Davis at work Tuesday before polls opened at 6 a.m. Town Election Warden Hiram Davis at 5 a.m. Tuesday was unboxing and counting packets of ballots as officials readied to open the polls at 6 a.m. Town Clerk John Myers reported he had accepted 3,555 absentee ballots. The town had 6,320 registered voters on July 13. Registrar of Voters Ruth Scheibenpflug, who has worked elections since 2007, said early Tuesday this has been the busiest one she has seen.
