YARMOUTH — Lewiston senior Brie Dube scored the tying goal in a back-and-forth third period as the Blue Devils and North Yarmouth Academy settled for a 3-3 tie in a rare matchup between the two programs at Travis Roy Ice Arena on Friday.

Paige Pomerleau opened the scoring for Lewiston in the first period, assisted by Nadia Roy, but the Panthers responded with an Anna Kuzarirov goal, assisted by Lilly Weinrich.

NYA took a 2-1 lead into the third period, thanks to a Natalie Farrell goal that was assisted by Jazzy Huntsman.

Leah Landry tied it with a goal assisted by Leah Dube, only for NYA to regain the lead on a Sam Babbitt goal assisted by Farrell and Huntsman.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

WELLS 43, SANFORD 33: Grace Ramsdell scored 31 points as the Warriors (2-0) topped the Spartans (0-1) in Sanford.

Riley Hebler finished with 18 points for Sanford.

Wells led 12-5 after one quarter, 23-15 at halftime and 38-26 after three quarters.

CHEVERUS 45, PORTLAND 41: Freshman Maddie Fitzpatrick scored 15 points to lead the Stags (1-1) to a comeback win over the Bulldogs (1-1) at the Expo.

Emma Lizotte added 14 points and Jillian Lizotte scored nine for Cheverus, which erased a 23-10 halftime deficit.

Amanda Kabantu led Portland with 10 points. Eliza Stein had nine.

SANFORD 60, WELLS 56: Ryan Robichaud made four 3-pointers on his way to 21 points, and the Spartans (1-0) beat the Warriors (0-2) in overtime at Wells.

Justin Kennedy added 16 points, and Matt Stockwell and Zach McMurtry each scored nine.

Gavyn Leighton scored 22 points for Wells. Caleb Corey dropped in 19 and Brayden Fazzina finished with 13.

THORNTON ACADEMY 60, BIDDEFORD 46: Dylan Griffin scored 26 points and Payton Jones added 13 to lead the Trojans (2-0) over the Tigers (0-2) at Saco.

Alex McAlevey led Biddeford with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
