“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
Now the votes have been counted and 43 Republicans chose to stand by their man, even though he deliberately unleashed a violent mob on them and then refused to call that mob off, we have a clearer picture of the Republican Party.
Low have they fallen from the party of Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt, or even Richard Nixon. They have now been reduced to the cult of Donald Trump, ready at a moment’s notice to lick his boots.
This is not the GOP, the Grand Old Party. This is a whole new party, and since it belongs to Trump perhaps they should consider rebranding it. Isn’t that what their master is an expert at? How about a new name: The AWFL Party? A is for American. W is for white. F is for fascist and L is for Loser.
What’s wrong with a little truth in advertising? This is America, the vast majority of Trump voters are white, they have no problem locking up children in cages and apparently no problem overturning a free and fair election; and, judging from their most ardent supporters – neo-Nazis and Confederates – they worship movements that violently crash and burn.
What’s in a name? In this case, that which we call a sickly smell and would know it by any other name.
