Frances C. Johnson

ORONO – Frances C. Johnson, 97, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at home in Orono on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021. Frances was born in New Hampton, N.H. on Jan. 21, 1924 to George and Lucy (Bowles) Copp.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A Johnson; daughter Eileen Walton and her husband Lewis; her sisters Thelma Needs and Josie Amendola and her brother George Copp.

She is survived by daughters, Laraine Campbell and husband Dick of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Leslie Johnson-Wright and husband Bob of Orono, with whom she made her home; and her sister, Eunice Dyer of Orono.

She is also survived by grandson, Michael Campbell and wife Meg of Prescott Valley, Ariz., granddaughters Terri Lynn Stull and husband Jim of Walkersville, Md. and Lisa Zimmerman and husband Luke of Hagerstown, Md., grandson Paul Walton and wife Annette of Clovis New Mexico, and grandson Michael Boucher. She had six great- grandchildren, Danny, Alex, Jaime, Amanda, Tyler and Chase; and one great-great-grandson Donald.

Frances was a 75-year member of the United Methodist Church (now Rainbow UMC) on Washington Avenue in Portland. She held many leadership roles in the church and her strong faith was an inspiration to many.

The family invites you to a time of visitation Monday March 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. A Service will be celebrated on Tuesday March 2 at 11 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home followed by a committal service at Brooklawn Memorial Park on Congress Street in Porltand. All COVID guidelines will be followed and masks will be required at all times.
