WATERBORO – Marie Louise (D’Ambroise) Bean, 70, of Waterboro, was welcomed into God’s embrace on April 6, 2021.

She was born in Bay City, Mich. on July 12, 1950 to Rose Myer and Louis-Philippe D’Ambroise. She was to become the eldest of five children. Graduated from St. Andre High School in Biddeford in 1968, a member of the last graduating class of the school. She also was part of the Upward Bound Program (a program of Robert Kennedy) at the University of South Florida. She received a diploma from the American Institute of Practical Nursing in Chicago.

Worked at HD Goodall Hospital, and Greenwood nursing home in Sanford, and St Andre’s nursing home in Biddeford….For 30 years worked as a home health aide and a scheduler for the Visiting Nurse Service of Southern Maine, later to become Maine Home Health Care.

She married R Errol “Babe” Bean in 1971 and they welcomed five children that filled their lives with joy. Her greatest accomplishment in life are these five children, which is the legacy she and Babe have nurtured and given to this world.

Always believing children should have examples set for them she became active in many aspects of their lives. She was a PTA president at the Waterboro elementary school, Girl Scout leader, den leader for Cub Scouts and roundtable member.

Believing in the need to support the community….and helping wherever help was needed…she was a former president and continued as board member of the Sanford Food Pantry serving with this group for over 25 years; managed the loan of health equipment for Sanford Lions Club for a few years and was a Past Noble Grand and treasurer of Rehoboth Rebeca Lodge #79.

Her faith being of great importance she was highly active in her church…first at St. Stephen The Martyr Episcopal Church in Waterboro and for the past 37 years at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Sanford. She served five terms as Senior Warden, and many years on the vestry; was newsletter editor, served on the Altar guild, was a licensed lector, Chalice Bearer and Lay Reader; served on the Diocesan council, and attended Diocesan convention as a delegate for almost 30 years. She was president of the regional council of area 8 (York County) until that program was dissolved. She was an acolyte trainer and involved in acolyte events when her children were involved. She was a Daughter of the King and as such led quiet days and Compline.

Music was always a special part of her life and she believed singing was to pray twice. She was a member of the choir at both St. Stephen the Martyr Church in Waterboro as well as St. George’s for 45 years.

She had a passion for writing. She wrote a weekly column for the Sanford Star and the Bridge Standard, as well as stories for her grandchildren. Her other great love was reading, and she leaves many, many books to be given away and shared.

Marie is predeceased by her husband; father; and a sister, Michelle and brother, Paul.

Survivors include her mother, Rose of Farmington, N.H.; brother, David D’ambroise and wife Beverly of Rochester, N.H., sister, Phyllis Lucas of Mobile, Ala.; sons, Christopher and his wife Abbey of Woolwich, Andrew and Marci of Gresham, Ore., Matthew and Katia of Hollis, daughters, Anne and Keith Lemieux of E. Waterboro, Jennifer and Lucas Servadio of Gray; along with nine grandchildren, Errol, Eloise and Tillie of Hollis, Daisy of Gresham, Ore., Penelope and Levi of Gray, Claire; Samuel and Charlotte of Woolwich; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service in celebration of new life will be held at Gowen Park in Sanford on Saturday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Lauren officiating.

Dr. Gold is graciously offering his services by playing meaningful music for Marie’s celebration.
