Patricia Ruth (Goggin) Eastman

SCARBOROUGH – Patricia Ruth (Goggin) Eastman, 95, passed away on April 5, 2021 at Maine Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 18, 1925, to the late Bernice and Roy Goggin of Gardiner. She attended Randolph and Gardiner schools, graduating from Gardiner High School in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert L. Leavitt, in 1943. He was killed in action in Italy in 1945 during World War II. Pat established a home in Pittston for her family and infant son, Timothy. She married Earl H. Eastman in 1952 and the couple had two daughters, Leslie and Lisbeth. They moved to Higgins Beach in Scarborough, where Pat spent the rest of her life. She worked as a real estate broker, operating Gaspar Real Estate on Higgins Beach for 22 years, retiring in 1990. Her husband Earl died in a car accident in 1976. Pat was a well-respected and fondly regarded member of the Higgins Beach community. Dealing primarily with rental properties, she welcomed visitors to the beach from Canada and throughout the U.S. Beach property owners were grateful they could depend on Pat to deal fairly with them and their customers. Pat was devoted to her family. Together with Earl, they established a loving home, accepting of all. They provided a safe and fun-loving place for their children to gather with their friends. Pat was a member of the Scarborough Free Baptist Church. She was a person of strong faith who saw God’s hand in all of nature’s beauty. In this, she found great peace, joy, comfort and courage. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, caring for her dogs and cats, and spending time with her family and her church friends. Patricia is predeceased by her husbands, Robert Leavitt and Earl Eastman; her son, Timothy Leavitt; her brother, Russell Goggin and his wife, Vivian Goggin, her sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Miller and her husband, Roger Miller; and two nephews.
