CASCO – Paul A. Mitch, 69, of Casco, died early Sunday morning, April 11, 2021, at his home in Casco village.

He was born on June 13, 1951, in Portland, a son of Frank and Patricia (Poulin) Mitch III. He attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Paul served for six years after graduating from high school.

He met Deon “Dee” Mitch in Florida in 1975 while he was serving and they wed a year later on Oct. 23, 1976, in Cape Elizabeth.

They settled in Casco Village in 1987 and he worked locally, most notably for the Town of Casco, retiring in 2013.

Paul had a tremendous number of interests that revolved around his love of math, science and history. He enjoyed the night sky star gazing and following the latest goings on with NASA and Elon Musk’s endeavors. He was also a ham radio operator, collected stamps and maps.

He is loved by his wife, Dee of Casco; his three sons, Michael Barnes of St. Petersburg, Fla., James Barnes of Casco and Alan Mitch of Casco; two granddaughters, Brianna Barnes Harrington of Tampa, Fla., and Autumn Barnes of Bridgton; two brothers, Orrin and Raymond Mitch; a sister, Robin Mitch. He was predeceased by his parents.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco with a time of visitation from 1 p.m., until the start of the service.
