Maine State Police conducted 208 internal affairs investigations from 2015 through 2020 that resulted in findings for or against officers. The agency found the allegations to be true in 65 cases.
It is not clear how many troopers faced discipline. Certain discipline records can be destroyed at the officer’s request and the agency said it does not keep track of those.
Public discipline records were provided for 20 incidents involving 19 officers from 2015 through the first half of 2020, although most of those were redacted or vaguely worded. Only seven documents include information describing the misconduct.
