The Seashore Trolley Museum is opening for its 82nd season on Saturday, May 1. The museum was the first historic transportation organization of its kind when it was founded in 1939 and currently curates the largest collection of trolleys and other transit artifacts in the world.

Experience history in motion on interactive, socially-distanced trolley rides on the museum’s private heritage electric railroad, which once served as a portion of Maine’s Atlantic Shore Line Railway (1902-1927). Check out several outdoor exhibits and trolleys displayed in three car houses.

The Museum Store offers several locally-made gifts. Pack a lunch and enjoy one of several picnic areas across the museum campus. The campus and trolley rides are also dog-friendly.

Seashore Trolley Museum operates several trolleys in its collection for guests during its regular season from May 1 to Oct. 31, including the popular open trolleys, referred to as “Breezers.” Tickets are available at www.trolleymuseum.org/events. Courtesy photo

Seashore Trolley Museum will open every Wednesday and Friday through Sunday in May through Oct. 31, with the hope that they may be able to add additional days to the schedule if COVID-19 conditions improve later this summer.

To kick the season off, Saturday, May 1 is also Maine Day. Residents of Maine get in for $2.07, and youth (from all states) ages 16 and younger are free. Enter to win door prizes from local businesses. Purchase tickets at the door to get the Maine Day admissions discount.

Seashore Trolley Museum requires face coverings for all guests, ages 5 and older. Seating on operating trolleys is socially distanced for all groups on board. Seashore Trolley Museum follows CDC protocols for cleaning and disinfecting facilities. Museum staff and volunteers sanitize equipment used by guests with EPA-registered products before and after each trolley ride, paying particular attention to high-touch surfaces.
