Next Tuesday, District 1 voters will do well to make Karen Snyder our representative on the Charter Commission.

Karen has long been active in Munjoy Hill civic affairs. She is committed to transparency in city government and the elimination of the influence of campaign contributions and political fundraising on municipal elections. On the proposals being aired by other candidates, she is open-minded and receptive to reason. Important to her is that the commission be guided by the Portland Comprehensive Plan.

Karen Snyder is, and will be, independent of the interests that have attempted to influence charter commission races by endorsements and campaign contributions. Karen has not sought endorsements and does not accept campaign contributions. She is not pushing a particular social or political agenda.

Karen will bring to the commission analytical ability, experience, civic commitment, open-mindedness, transparency and independence. Among three qualified candidates, she is the best first choice on June 8.
