The city of Portland will offer a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. July 4 off the Eastern Promenade.

The annual Fourth of July event was canceled last year because of the pandemic, and this year no public events will be associated with the display, such as the usual performance by the Portland Symphony Orchestra.

This year’s fireworks will be viewable from other locations across the city, such as East End Beach, Fort Allen Park, Amethyst Park, Baxter Boulevard, Payson Park and Martin’s Point, as well as from Bug Light in South Portland.

The city is also looking into live streaming the event. Additional details will be released later this month.
