Maine’s public university system has formed a committee to find a new president for the University of Southern Maine, one of its largest campuses.
USM president Glenn Cummings is stepping down in July to return to a faculty position at the university, which has campuses in Portland, Gorham and Lewiston.
The University of Maine System board of trustees said Friday that a committee of students, faculty, staff members, alumni and others has been appointed to the search committee.
The system said the committee will work with a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm to find USM’s next president. The system said it plans to interview finalists in March and pick the new president by April.
