Michael J. Ahern

SACO – Michael J. Ahern, 66, of Saco, passed away Monday Jan. 24, in Scarborough following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1955 in Portland, the son of Joseph G. Sr. and Gloria (Thibodeau) Ahern. Mike grew up in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1974. He worked for several companies over the years, doing route sales. For the last 18 years he was an independent contractor for Fed Ex Ground, just recently retiring.

Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and dancing. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. A few years back, he enjoyed throwing darts with his team, the Flame Throwers, along with his brother Tim. He was an amazing father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He greeted everyone he knew with a hug and a smile. He had just enjoyed a successful deer hunt with his son, Justin.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Joseph Ahern, Sr.

He is survived by his children Justin Ahern and his wife Melissa of Windham and Jannelle Ahern and her fiancé Dustin Stovall of Westbrook; his mother, Gloria Ahern of South Portland; his sisters, Sharon Leeman and her husband William of South Portland and Shirley Smith and her husband Michael of South Portland; his brothers, Steven Ahern and his wife Karen Smith of Bradenton, Fla., Joseph Ahern, Jr. of South Portland and Timothy Ahern of South Portland; his grandchildren, Charlotte Ahern, Kasside Ahern, Keegan McBean and Kyrah Stovall; along with five nieces and six nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland on Saturday Feb. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at his sister’s home, this summer.
