Marie Elaine Lemay

ARUNDEL – Marie Elaine (King) Lemay, 80, of Arundel, passed away of Covid 19 on Feb. 1, 2022 at Southern Maine Health Care, Biddeford.

Born Oct. 16, 1941 in Boston. Daughter of Charles and Jeannette (Jolicoeur) King; widow of the late Raymond G. Lemay; sister of Janet L. (King) Maynard of Las Vegas, sister of Wayne C. King of Wells; mother of James M. Collins Sr., Shelley J. Williams, Vickie L. Collins-Libby and Chris M. Freeland of Maine; grandmother of Jessie J. Williams Jr. of Las Vegas, James M. Collins Jr. of Florida, Morgan P. Libby of Reno, Nev. and Melanie R. Collins of Maine.

Marie went to St. Joseph’s High School in Massachusetts and raised her children on a farm in Arundel. Marie’s occupations included farmer, secretary, truck driver, and pharmacy tech before retirement.

Her interests included: genealogy, horses, knitting, crocheting, puzzles, camping and cruises. She was a member of the board of directors at the Arundel Historical Society, and a member of the “Red Hot Mama’s” chapter of the Red Hat Society. Marie was a direct descendant of 4 Filles du Roi women and 1 Filles a Marier. Her favorite songs were “Ave Maria” and “Jealous of the Angels”. Marie loved her family and friends and had a special place in her heart for each of them. She touched a lot of lives and will be dearly missed.

Memorial visitation will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk on Saturday Feb. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Friends and family are welcome.

Marie’s wishes were to be cremated. She will be laid to rest at a graveside burial come spring in the Poverty Ledge Farm Cemetery on the corner of 183 Old Post Rd. and Rodeo Drive, Arundel.
