Portland-based rock trio Weakened Friends is singer-guitarist Sonia Sturino, bassist and backing vocalist Annie Hoffman and drummer Adam Hand. They released their second full-length album, “Quitter,” in November, and their Dec. 3 album release show at Portland House of Music was jam-packed and spectacular.

Weakened Friends has a show on Friday night at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and their national tour with We Were Promised Jetpacks starts on March 9.  That stint of shows winds down on April 12 at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and two days later, the band heads overseas for a total of 20 shows in the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Belgium.

“Everything is Better” is an infectious, upbeat tune, but don’t let that fool you; it’s a declaration of freedom from a bitter relationship that celebrates an ex’s departure in the refrain and has a buzzsaw electric guitar riff. “I’m sorry but I’m not sorry ’cause everything is better now,” Sturino proclaims with conviction.
