Right an injustice today. Contact your legislators and urge them to pass L.D. 1626, which would restore sovereignty to the Wabanaki tribes, allowing them to access 151 federal laws enacted since 1980 and granting them the same rights and benefits that 570 other federally recognized tribes have in other states.
Enacting this law will allow Wabanaki tribes to access financial assistance and services needed to sustain and protect their communities. It is long past time for Maine to right this egregious wrong.
