Norman R. Ruck

BIDDEFORD – Norman R. Ruck, aka “Dad” “Gramps” “Stormin’ Norman” and the “Mayor of Biddeford”, passed away on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 at Southern Maine Health Care surrounded by his loved ones. Norman was born to Richard and Lorraine (Bernier) Ruck on April 18, 1947 in Biddeford.

Norman married his wife Carole Cote on Jan. 30, 1965. He and Carole, with the help of their two sons, Wade and Lance, worked tirelessly together to build their company, Norman Ruck Inc. Norman was the face of the business as he knew everyone and made friends wherever he went. His smile and jovial demeanor made it nearly impossible not to instantly like him.

He and Carole spent many wonderful years together raising their family, swimming in their pool, traveling, camping with friends, playing cards, and enjoying games of cribbage. When Carole passed in April of 2019, Norman was devastated. That summer he reconnected with Connie Dean, an old friend from his early days. Norman’s light was back and he enjoyed the last 2 1/2 years with her. They were able to take an Alaskan cruise, travel to Florida, and spent many nights with friends dancing to Jose Duddy. He had recently purchased a winter home in Ocala, Fla. that he looked forward to spending his winters at.

In addition to losing his wife, Norman was also preceded in death by his parents, Richard Ruck and Lorraine Labbe; one brother, Donald Ruck and one sister, Shirley Ackerman.

He is survived by his two sons, Wade Ruck and his companion Darlene Gregoire, and Lance Ruck and his companion Trisha Parker. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Karissa Ruck and her fiancé Caleb Lavoie, and Cody Ruck and his girlfriend Sydney Simard; one granddog, Gus Ruck; his great-grandson Korbin Lavoie; his fiancé, Constance Dean; his stepmother, Jeanette Ruck; two brothers, Phillip Labbe and wife Doreen and Richard Ruck, his sisters Nancy Gadbois and husband Steve, Cindy Letourneau and husband Dennis, and Carol Caron and husband Steve; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Hope Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at the Hope Memorial Chapel followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund.
