BIDDEFORD — People looking to get there, from here, as the Maine expression goes, can now check Google Maps for Biddeford-Saco-Old Orchard Beach Transit information.

“This BSOOB Transit partnership with Google will allow people to better understand the transit network, bus schedules, and create individualized trip plans,” said Executive Director Chad Heid. “The system details are now available on any device that can access Google Maps either in a browser or app.

“We hope our services being available on this platform will improve understanding for our system and connect new riders to BSOOB Transit,” said Heid.

Users just need to click the “Transit” button when searching for directions on the map. As an additional benefit, the Google Transit app integrates all regional transit providers to create multi-agency trip plans when appropriate, he said.

BSOOB Transit providing detailed information on the Google app can improve the overall quality of service and encourage non-locals and social service agencies to make greater use of public transit services, he said.

“Joining Google Transit gives our region the ability to compare personal auto and transit travel times,” said Heid. “Ideally this tool will allow some folks to find alternative trip options that can minimize personal fuel expenses.”
