There are several area venues that are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day Thursday, March 17, with events ranging from live music to specialty food and drink.

A whiskey tasting will be offered at the Falmouth Country Club from 6-8 p.m. Sommelier Erica Archer will curate five fine whiskeys from around the world, accompanied by Executive Chef Owen Price’s charcuterie. Wild Oats Bakery & Café is featuring savories and sweets with a touch of the Emerald Isle: mocha stout cupcakes, Irish cream puffs, boiled dinner for two, corned beef hash and more. 166 Admiral Fitch Ave., Brunswick Landing.

Byrnes Irish Pub has live music scheduled all day from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 38 Centre St. in Bath and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 16 Station Ave. in Brunswick.

Maine Maple Weekend is March 26 and 27. The Maine Maple Producers Association invites you to visit sugarhouses around the state to sample and see how the sap is processed into syrup. More next week.

Real Maine, a program of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry, is sponsoring Open Farm Day on July 24. It may in the distant future, but now is the time to sign up to participate at getrealmaine.com/events. This is a free event, but you must opt in. Farms across the state invite visitors to meet farmers, tour properties, ask questions about local growing methods and watch how-to demonstrations.

Craft beer releases

Mast Landing released Tell All Your Friends Imperial Stout March 5 and it is available at the Freeport tasting room, 200 Lower Main St.

Maine Beer Company, 525 U.S. Route 1, Freeport, is releasing Vernal Equinox March 15, for a spring take on an American IPA. On March 25, Dinner will be released in bottles and on draft. On March 31, Black Barn Program No. 31 will be released in bottles and on draft.

Flight Deck Brewing released Breaking the Sour Barrier on March 4. It has touches of fruit from strawberries and papaya. Night Witches was released March 8. It celebrates International Women’s Day and is brewed as a black IPA. 11 Atlantic Ave., Brunswick Landing.

Black Pug Brewing has THAI.P.A, with hints of ginger and lemongrass, back on draft. 30 Bath Road, Brunswick.
