The Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe v Wade on June 24m 2022. The purpose of this letter is not to discuss whether the right to choose should be maintained or not, I expect you have made up your mind on that already. I want to remind people that the government works for us. Their entire purpose is to serve citizens. The majority of Americans, a little over 60 percent, support a woman’s right to choose. The government should, at no point, be working against the expressed will of its people.

Furthermore, the stated goal of the Supreme Court is to ensure equal justice for all. The recent ruling against Roe v Wade will not stop rich or well-established women from receiving abortions. This ruling will only stop the young, poor, and those who are in dangerous situations, from receiving health care that is afforded to the woman around them. This ruling is elitist, a direct attack on women in the lower class. People who are against abortion can have respectable reasons for being so, people who are against Roe v Wade are either seeking to punish young and poor women or they are ignorant.

As a young woman living in America, I am furious and terrified. Americans don’t want this corruption or the restriction of woman’s rights, this is a statistical fact. Americans are willing to fight for their country, this is an observed fact, so let’s fight.
