They were told they couldn’t vote. They were told they couldn’t work outside the home. They were told they couldn’t go to law school, be lawyers, couldn’t go to medical school to be doctors, couldn’t hold public office, mayors, governors, vice president of the United States.

Couldn’t be policemen or firefighters or welders or construction workers building massive high rises, all men’s work and when they made it to these jobs they were told they had to make less money than a man doing the same work.

Now, mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, women are being told they can’t make decisions regarding their own reproductive health care. What’s next? That women should not be allowed to speak?

They will persist. They will rise up. They will be heard and they will be respected.
