Evergreen Credit Union expands its membership area

Those who live, work, worship or attend schools in Androscoggin, Oxford, Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties can now access all the financial services Evergreen Credit Union has to offer.

The Maine Bureau of Financial Institutions granted the expansion; Evergreen had served only York and Cumberland counties. Forbes recently named the credit union to their Best-In-State Credit Unions 2022 for Maine.

Hires, promotions, appointments

Cahill

Therese Cahill, former director of the Office of Child and Family Services at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and of constituent services at the Office of the Secretary of State, is the new executive director of the Maine Dental Association Board of Directors.

Esther K. Bizier has been promoted to director of Main-Land Falmouth for Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. Bizier will help clients with technical and land consulting services at the Falmouth office. Bizier serves on the Board of Directors for the Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was president of the section in 2021.

Taylor

John A. Taylor, DO, of Mid Coast Medical Group – Neurology was named the Louis Hanson, DO, Physician of the Year by the Maine Osteopathic Association at the group’s awards luncheon in June at the Samoset Resort in Rockland. According to the MOA, the award is presented to an osteopathic doctor who, “has demonstrated a high quality of practice, a compassionate interest in patients and a commitment to their community.”

Cristina M. Post of Freeport has been endorsed by the Association of Educational Therapists as an educational therapist/professional.

Jared Lamey, the owner of SERVPRO of Portland, received the Founder’s Platinum award when SERVPRO held its 53rd annual convention from July 5-9 in Dallas. Shawn Cox, who owns SERVPRO of Bath/Brunswick, received the Chairman’s Platinum award.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine has been recognized as a 2021 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Quality Award Winner. Out of approximately 230 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country, BBBSSM is one of 53 organizations to receive the top honor.

Granted

Maine’s First Ship has received a $4,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Fund to collect and publish via film the informal oral histories of the volunteers who helped reconstruct the 17th-century sailing vessel, Virginia.

Eight organizations serving Lincoln and Sagadahoc County residents in need of emergency food and shelter support will receive $69,604 in funds from the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program, including Bath Area Family YMCA, New Hope Midcoast, Spectrum Generations – Meals on Wheels and Tedford Housing.

More than $30,000 in grants from the Maine Community Foundation will support hospice services in southern Maine for the Center for Grieving Children, Portland, to provide peer-support groups for grieving children in person and expand online programming; Harbour Singers, Saco, to provide bedside singing for those in homes and residential facilities; and Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Biddeford.

Giving back

Dunkin’ of Maine and eastern New Hampshire raised $55,000 for The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center through the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. With this year’s grant, the hospital will hire a dedicated gaming and technology assistant. The new position is part of the Child Life care team and ensures that BBCH has fully functioning equipment, connectivity and games for patient use.
