Joy G. Haralick

WESTBROOK – Joy G. Haralick, of Westbook, passed on to glory at the age of 85 on July 19, 2022. She was born in Binghamton, N.Y., but resided in several states over her life – particularly dear to her was Huntsville, Ala., Knoxville, Tenn. and Portland.

Joy had a PhD in Sociology and taught at the college level for over 30 years, beginning at Kansas University and about 25 years at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She published several papers in her field, as well as did leading edge research.

Her faith in God was a paramount part of who she was. She sought to be Christ’s hands and feet and spent her life trying to do good to and for others.

She leaves behind a daughter, Tammy-Beth Montgomery, son-in-law, Steve Montgomery and two grandsons, Benjamin Montgomery and John Montgomery.

She testified to the goodness of God in hardships as well as in times of joy. She lived her life in peace trusting in Him in all circumstances. She bravely faced death just as she bravely faced challenges in life. She was the best mother, friend and grandmother one could ask for and will be deeply, deeply missed.
