A gentleman whose letter appeared in the letters to the editor Aug. 6 complained bitterly about his children and grandchildren having to pay for the $850 stimulus checks sent by the state of Maine to all taxpayers. The total cost of those checks will be somewhere around three-quarters of a billion dollars. That’s billion with a “b.”
I’m sure that he was equally incensed about those same family members having to pay back the $1.5 trillion (that’s trillion with a “t”) Republican tax deductions from the Trump administration, with the largest cuts going to the country’s highest earners. He must have just forgotten to write the letter.
