The Bath Fire & Rescue Department firefighters who responded to the Dike Newell Elementary School fires in June were awarded Unit Citations for Outstanding Performance by Chief Lawrence Renaud and given letters of appreciation by City Manager Marc Meyers. “Under heavy fire and smoke conditions, firefighters demonstrated outstanding performance, which had a significant impact on the outcome of the department’s response,” according to a prepared release by the city.  Contributed / City of Bath

Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program in Brunswick has received a $10,000 grant from The Dunkin’ Joy of Childhood Foundation to support its School Pantry program, which provides children and their families easy to prepare food for the weekends.

Hires, promotions, appointments

Officer Kayden Nadeau was sworn in July 8 as a patrol officer in the Brunswick Police Department. Nadeau is from Fort Kent and a recent graduate of Thomas College, where he studied criminal justice and forensic psychology.

Cassandra “Casey” Mesick Braun has been appointed curator following an international search at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. Mesick Braun comes to BCMA from the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas, where she worked most recently as associate curator of global Indigenous art.

Ronda Steciuk of Falmouth is the new director of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s Animal Welfare Program.

Sue Campbell has been named executive director of OUT Maine. Campbell has served as interim executive director since May and was formerly the deputy director.
