A bicyclist in Belfast was found injured in a ditch after a hit-and-run on Friday, police said.
Police said Tristen Fontenelle, 30, of Searsmont, was riding her bicycle west on Belmont Avenue on the eastbound shoulder when she was hit by a truck driving eastbound. The driver then fled the scene, leaving Fontenelle injured in the ditch, police said in a social media post.
A resident at 238 Belmont Ave heard the collision just before 9 p.m., found the Fontenelle in the ditch and called for help, patrolman Andrew Chapman said.
Fontenelle suffered scratches, cuts and bruises to the right side of her face, Chapman said.
She was treated and released from Waldo General Hospital.
Police are searching for the driver of the vehicle, which they believe to be a 2014 to 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The truck will likely be missing the passenger-side mirror and passenger-side front window.
