SACO — Age Friendly Saco will hold its Annual Volunteer and Wellness Fair on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Thornton Academy.

The day will start out with coffee and donuts and registrants will be able to choose to attend two out of three seminars which include:

• City Planner Jason Garnham will provide information about Saco’s ADU ordinance (accessory dwelling units). In addition, Chris Lee from Backyard ADUs, https://backyardadus.com/ will be present to discuss various ADU models and answer questions about building an ADU. He will also be at the vendor fair.

• Sean McCarthy and Brooke Cobbett from the City of Saco’s Assessing Department will present information on the various Property Tax programs available to older residents as well as how to access these programs. They will provide handouts as well as information about program application deadlines.

• Joyce Leary Clark, a partner at Prescott Jamieson Murphy Law Group, will present a talk on “Why Do I need a Will” and other legal documents. She will also be at the vendor fair in the afternoon to answer questions.

After the seminars, a luncheon will be served in the TA cafeteria followed by a Vendor Fair. Vendors will include: Northern Light Healthcare who will be providing a COVID Vaccine Clinic including the new bivalent covid booster; BSOOB Transit will be in attendance with a “Ride the Bus” demonstration, participants will be able to ride the bus and better understand how to access our public transit system; Representatives from Age Friendly Saco’s On-Demand Transportation program; Saco Cycles will be in attendance with the “CHAT,” a 2-person adaptive bike that a new volunteer program has been utilizing to provide bicycle rides again to residents in Saco residing in congregate living facilities; and Dick Hilton, the resident Medicare expert will be present to answer questions about Medicare and prescription drug plans.

There will be door prizes, to include echo dots, streaming devices, gift certificates and much more. People must be present to win.
