Cole Bishop converted a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in the second overtime, and fourth-seeded Gorham earned a 2-1 win over No. 5 South Portland in a Class A South boys’ soccer quarterfinal Thursday in Gorham.

The Rams (13-2-1) avenged a regular-season loss against South Portland (11-5) as they advanced to the semifinals Saturday against top-seeded Scarborough.

SCARBOROUGH 2, FALMOUTH 1: Kilson Joao broke a tie late in the first half and the top-seeded Red Storm (14-1) beat the No. 9 Navigators (8-6-2) in a Class A South quarterfinal at Scarborough.

Falmouth’s Ben Pausman gave the Navigators a lead in the third minute when his long blast deflected past goalkeeper Nicholas Ouellette (five saves), but Scarborough drew even on Will Fallona’s goal in the 13th minute.

Fallona set up Joao’s goal with 6:18 left in the half.

Caden Berry made four saves for Falmouth.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2, RICHMOND 0: Dalton St. Hilaire scored in the first half, and the fifth-seeded Panthers (8-7) got an own goal in the second half as they defeated the No. 4 Bobcats (10-4-1) in a Class D South quarterfinal at Richmond.

NYA next faces top-seeded Greenville.

TRAIP ACADEMY 2, MARANACOOK 0: The fifth-seeded Rangers (12-3) struck for a pair of goals just two minutes apart midway through the second half to beat the fourth-seeded Black Bears (9-4-1) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Readfield.

Traip advances to play No. 1 Waynflete.

CHOP POINT 1, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 0: Simon Wilkinson scored the only goal as the third-seeded Blue Bears (7-2-1) beat the sixth-seeded Lions (6-7) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Bath.

CHEVERUS 9, FALMOUTH 0: Taylor Tory scored the first of her three goals just 22 seconds into the game, and the top-ranked Stags (15-0) rolled into the Class A South semifinals with a win over the eighth-seeded Navigators in Portland.

Tory and Lily Johnson each produced two goals in the first quarter, staking Cheverus to a 4-0 lead. Lucy Johnson scored twice in the second quarter as the margin grew to 7-0 at halftime, then completed her hat trick in the third. Olivia McCartney completed the scoring for the reigning state champions, who will host No. 5 Thornton Academy on Saturday.

THORNTON ACADEMY 2, NOBLE 1: Greta Klimitz put in the rebound of her own shot with 2:01 left in the first overtime to give the fifth-seeded Golden Trojans (10-5) a win over the fourth-seeded Knights (10-5) in a Class A South quarterfinal in South Berwick.

Klimitz set up Cora Bolduc’s tying goal with 1:54 left in regulation.

Lila Fiel scored on a breakaway in the first quarter for Noble.

THORNTON ACADEMY 34, SANFORD 7: Ryan O’Keefe threw three touchdown passes and rushed for a TD, and the Golden Trojans (7-2) ended their regular season with a win over the Spartans (5-4) in Saco.

O’Keefe connected with Xander Cantara for a 38-yard touchdown pass on Thornton’s first possession. On the next Thornton drive, a 37-yard pass to Henry Lausier led to Hayden Whitney’s 1-yard scoring plunge.

Sanford’s Tylor Pitman intercepted an O’Keefe pass and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter. But O’Keefe answered with a 1-yard TD run to make it 20-7 at halftime, then added touchdown passes of 14 yards to Carlos Eboli and 32 yards to Lausier on the first two drives of the second half. Eboli’s long kickoff return to open the second half set up his touchdown catch.

O’Keefe finished 11 of 17 for 233 yards.

Sanford’s only offensive TD was a 1-yard run by Jordan Bissonnette late in the third. Whitney capped the scoring with a 2-yard run in the fourth.
