Recognition

Carrie Lewis, the recently retired general manager of the Portland Water District, has received the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies President’s Award, presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of water supply management. Lewis previously was awarded AWWA’s George Warren Fuller Award, the drinking water community’s highest honor.

Preti Flaherty has been named among the 2023 Best Law Firms by the U.S. News – Best Lawyers rankings. To be eligible for ranking, a law firm must have at least one attorney named in the 2023 Best Lawyers in America in a particular practice area and metro region; Preti Flaherty had 46 attorneys recognized, including six Lawyer of the Year honorees. All rankings are based on peer reviews, client assessments and U.S. News research.  The firm received a total of 32 “Best Law Firm” awards, including 17 Tier 1 awards for quality.

Unum was recently presented with The American Heart Association in Maine’s Corporate Leadership Award – one of six awards presented in the Association’s Eastern States region which includes 14 states from Maine to Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Companies considered for this award must demonstrate support for heart health over a period of five or more years; be involved with at least one Heart Association and well-being program; promote company health and well-being; provide volunteers impact for the  Association’s executive leadership committees; and show sustained financial support.
