A Berwick woman was transported by LifeFlight to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a crash Sunday night on Route 9, Berwick police said.
Kathryn Brooks, 23, was traveling near Heritage Lane in a four-door Honda Accord when the crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m., police said on Facebook.
Two passersby reported to police that the car was on fire and Brooks had been ejected from the vehicle. Later, they assisted Officer Nick Higgins in moving her across the road, away from the fully engulfed car.
Brooks was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire, then transferred to Mass General via LifeFlight, police said. She was in the intensive care unit Monday night, hospital staff said.
The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
