Kennebunkport kicked off its 41st Christmas Prelude festival on Dec. 1 with a series of events extending from the weekend through this week, including a tree-lighting ceremony in Dock Square, the festival’s annual hat parade, candlelight caroling at the Franciscan Monastery, and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus by lobster boat at the Nonantum Resort on Sunday.
The celebration will continue with another tree-lighting ceremony in Dock Square on Friday, followed by the 11th annual fireworks display. Festivities will end on Dec. 11 with the annual pooch parade featuring dogs dressed in their owners’ favorite holiday attire.
