The New Jersey Institute of Technology rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to take the lead in the third quarter and handed the University of Maine its third straight loss, 56-54, in an America East women’s basketball game on Saturday in Orono.

Adrianna Smith had 23 points and eight rebounds for the Black Bears, who fall to 12-12 overall and 8-4 in the conference. Olivia Rockwood added 10 points.

Alejandra Zuniga had 16 points and Kenna Squier had 11, while Aria Myers and Trinity Williams each had 10 for NJIT (12-12, 7-5).

U. OF NEW ENGLAND 94, NICHOLS 88: Keagan Dunbar had 25 points and 13 rebounds as the Nor’easters (15-7, 4-4 Commonweath Coast) beat the Bison (7-16, 5-11) in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Gabby Soter also had 25 points, Juliana Tracey had 24 and Kaitlyn Santos 12 for UNE.

EASTERN CONN. STATE 71, SOUTHERN MAINE 42: The Warriors (19-4, 13-1 LEC) outscored the Huskies (6-16, 4-9) by 14 points in the third quarter to pull away for the win in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Amy Fleming scored 11 points for USM.

AMHERST 66, BOWDOIN 45: Sydney Jones had 20 points for the Polar Bears (15-8, 4-5 NESCAC) who lost to the Mammoths (16-7, 4-5) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

HAMILTON 70, COLBY 53: Lydia Modarski scored 25 points for the Mules (8-14, 3-7 NESCAC) who lost to the Continentals (12-10, 5-5) in Clinton, New York.

BATES 54, WESLEYAN 46: Meghan Graff scored 20 points as the Bobcats (13-10, 5-5 NESCAC) held off the Cardinals (10-14, 3-7) in Lewiston.

Morgan Kennedy added 10 points for Bates, which led 36-21 at halftime.

EMMANUEL 73, ST. JOSEPH’S 69: Yannie Chan hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:15 remaining as the Saints (18-5, 13-2 GNAC) beat the Monks (18-5, 13-2) in a game between the top two teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, in Boston.

Nina Howe scored 19 points, and Hannah Talon and Elizabeth Stapelfeld each had 14 for the Monks.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

NJIT 65, UMAINE 50: Kevin Osawe had 14 points as the Highlanders (7-17, 4-7 America East) cruised to a win over the Black Bears (10-15, 4-8) in Newark, New Jersey.

Kellen Tynes had 14 points for UMaine.

EMMANUEL 82, ST. JOSEPH’S 74: The Saints (15-7, 11-3 GNAC) jumped out to a 19-point lead in the first half and beat the Monks (12-10, 8-6) in Boston.

Nicholas Curtis had 20 points, while Griffin Foley had 16 for St. Joseph’s.

COLBY 87, HAMILTON 70: Noah Tyson led a balanced offense with 15 points as the Mules (18-6, 5-5 NESCAC) beat the Continentals (16-8, 7-3) in Waterville.

Alec McGovern and Jonah Obi each added 14 points, and Will King had 10 points and eight assists for Colby, which outscored Hamilton 54-36 in the second half.

WESLEYAN 83, BATES 76: Nicky Johnson scored 11 of his 27 points in the final 3:13 as the Cardinals (16-8, 7-3 NESCAC) held off the Bobcats (7-17, 1-9) in Middletown, Connecticut.

Gabe Ravetz had 33 points for Wesleyan, while Steph Baxter had 22 for Bates.

AMHERST 56, BOWDOIN 39: The Polar Bears (10-14, 2-8 NESCAC) were held to 14 points in the first half as they lost to the Mammoths (10-14, 4-6) in Brunswick.

Michael Simonds (12 points) was the only player in double figures for Bowdoin.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 70, SOUTHERN MAINE 56: The Warriors (12-12, 9-6 Little East) went on a 21-4 run in the second half as they rallied from a nine-point deficit against the Huskies (14-9, 8-6) in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Chance Dixon had 17 points and Cody Hawes added 14 for USM.

NICHOLS 104, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 80: Zach Boulay led UNE (2-21, 0-16 GNAC) with 22 points in a loss to the Bison (18-5, 14-2) at Dudley, Massachusetts.

Ryan Lin added 14 points, Sam McElliott had 13 and Zach Federico scored 10 for the Nor’easters.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

SALEM STATE 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Jessica Robert’s goal 4:32 into overtime gave the Vikings (6-15-2, 3-13-2 NEHC) a win over the Huskies (13-11-1, 11-6-1) in Gorham.

Saige MacLeod staked USM to a 1-0 lead late in the second period. Salem State’s Abby Stafford tied it early in the third.

BOWDOIN 2, TRINITY 2:  Jelani Adorno scored from Claudia Capone with just 16 seconds to play in regulation as the Bantams (10-10-1, 4-9-1 NESCAC) rallied to a tie against the Polar Bears ( 7-13-1, 2-12-1) in a regular-season finale at Hartford, Connecticut.

Brett Stoddard and Peyton Mulhern each had power-play goals for Bowdoin.

Ethel Wilhemson also scored for Trinity.

Danielle Marquez recorded 50 saves for the Polar Bears, while Hannah Leclair had 18 saves for the Bantams.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2, NICHOLS 1: Lainie Lemieux scored an unassisted goal with 4:45 left to break a 1-1 tie and lead the Nor’easters (8-12-3, 7-7-2 CCC) over the Bison (5-17-1, 3-13) at Burrillville, Rhode Island.

Lauren Rokala opened the scoring with a first-period goal for Nichols, and Abbi Charvat countered with a second-period goal for UNE from Avery Lutrzykowski and Meghan Hamilton.

MEN’S HOCKEY

U. OF NEW ENGLAND 7, NICHOLS 0: Jayden Price scored twice as the Nor’easters (16-5-2, 14-4-1 CCC) beat the Bison (9-14, 5-14) in Biddeford.

Shea Courtmanche added a goal and two assists for the Nor’easters.

COLBY 4, WESLEYAN 0:  John McElaney and Ryan Doolin each had a pair of goals for the Mules (11-9-2, 9-6-1 NESCAC) as they blanked the Cardinals (13-6-3, 9-4-3) in Waterville.

Marc Smith stopped 21 shots for Wesleyan, while Andy Beran turned aside all 28 shots faced to record the shutout for Colby.

TRINITY 1, BOWDOIN 0: Richard Boysen’s first-period goal was enough for the Bantams (16-5-1, 13-2-1 NESCAC) in a win over the Polar Bears (11-8-3, 3-5-1) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin goalie Alex Kozic made 16 saves.

BABSON 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 2:  Colby Bailey had a pair of goals as the Beavers (15-8-2, 10-6-2 NEHC) beat the Huskies (5-18-2, 4-14) in Babson Park, Massachusetts.

Ian Driscoll, Nolan Dion, James Perullo and Danny Cavanagh all scored for Babson.

Azam Jiwa and Nolan Elhaney were the goal scorers for Southern Maine.

SOFTBALL

GEORGE WASHINGTON 9, UMAINE 4: Krista Francia and Gabby Papushka each had a double, while Kelby Drew had two hits in the Black Bears (1-2) loss to the Colonials (2-1) in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

BUCKNELL 8, UMAINE 2: Anna Margetis each had an RBI double but the Black Bears (1-3) loss to the Bison (1-2) in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
