AUBURN — Two women were taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon, one with life-threatening injuries, following a crash on Hotel Road in Auburn, according to police.

Kim Green-Labranche, 64, of Casco was driving her 2012 Toyota Tundra when she lost control and hit an oncoming 2021 Subaru Forester driven by Kathleen Costello, 48, of South Portland, police said.

Robert Romero, 56, of Auburn was traveling behind Costello in his 2013 Honda CR-V and also hit Green-Labranche’s vehicle.

Rescue workers from the Auburn Fire Department removed Green-Labranche from her vehicle. She was then taken to the hospital with what officials described as life-threatening injuries.

Costello made it out of her Subaru, which had rolled into a ditch. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Romero reportedly suffered minor injuries and did not go to the hospital.

Police said road conditions were a factor in the accident, which was still under investigation Sunday afternoon.
