Regarding the business story about drugmaker Eli Lily (“Eli Lilly plans to slash some insulin prices, expand cost cap,” March 1), the corporation decided to reduce the cost of insulin following the $35 cap for Medicare recipients called for in the federal Inflation Reduction Act.

Although Republicans voted against the legislation and specifically blocked the cap on insulin at $35 for those not on Medicare, Eli Lilly decided in favor of the people rather than those who apparently are not representing them in Congress.

I am heartened to know that, despite Republican lawmakers, some corporations sometimes see the advantage in helping the people of this country rather than helping themselves to bloated profits. Let’s see if this trend continues.
