Daniel Vinton Abbott, 17, a senior at Thornton Academy and Biddeford Regional Center of Technology, died on Feb. 22, 2023, one day before his 18th birthday, in a car accident.
Daniel was quiet; he was more likely to convey a thought with a smirk or a raise of an eyebrow. When he was with his close friends and family, he opened up and shared his smiles and laughs. In his short life, Daniel touched many lives. He had a generous and huge heart and was always thinking about other people over himself. When asked what he wanted for Christmas, he would give a list of things to buy his friends.
With those friends was where Daniel spent most of his free time. His favorite pastimes were hanging out, listening to music, and playing video games. Daniel was a hands-on learner and enjoyed his Maine Fish and Wildlife and automotive courses at school. He had an adventurous spirit and loved four-wheeling, dirt biking and kayaking at his aunt Tammy’s farm, skating on his longboard, or target practice with his Uncle Brian.
He thought about pursuing careers in the automotive industry and cooking, which he was learning more recently while working at Jimmy The Greek’s Restaurant in Old Orchard. He is survived by his father Daniel W. Abbott, mother Stacey Osmond, David Osmond, sister Chastity (Abbott) Trybulski and Kevin Trybulski, sister Samantha (Abbott) Morris and Brandon Morris, step-sister Cheyanne Osmond; aunt and uncles Tara-Lee Goulet and Brian Goulet, Diane Abbott, Pat and Donald Abbott, Deena Abbott; and many other nieces and nephews who cared for him deeply. He is predeceased by his grandmother Patricia Rich and brother Chad Abbott.
Daniel will be missed dearly by the close family and friends he grew up with, Cheyanne Knox-Benner, Sammey Glantz, Braeden and Amon Caissie.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 11, at the Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home in Windham. A celebration of life will be held afterward at 55 River Road, Steep Falls, ME 04085.
