SACO — Even for those not required to file tax forms, it may beneficial to file the ME1040 and receive every credit and rebate that they are due.
That is the word from Age Friendly Saco, which will host a workshop March 23 with representatives from AARP’s Tax-Aide program. Attendees can get free assistance from an IRS-certified volunteer tax preparer.
The workshop is free and is only for filing the ME1040 (not federal) return, said Age Friendly Saco Director Jean Saunders. The ME1040 return is required to receive the Maine State Property Tax Credit and participate in the City of Saco’s Senior Tax Assistance Program.
Appointments are required, people may register by calling the Age Friendly Saco office at (207) 710-5029 and there will be a callback to set up an appointment for the March 23 workshop.
