It is somewhat astounding to hear former Vice President Mike Pence lambast former President Donald Trump. Of the Jan. 6 attack, Pence said: “Make no mistake about it, what happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way.”

That statement from a man who supported his president until he defied him by certifying the election of Biden. His words echoed the hard work done by the Jan. 6 committee.

In contrast, Tucker Carlson cherry picked images from Jan. 6 to make it look like a summer picnic in Washington, D.C., rather than a scene involving senators and congressmen running for their lives. They were hiding from a mob, not partygoers. Kevin McCarthy made a serious misjudgment in only passing tapes to Carlson. For someone who had to suffer through 14 “no votes,” and compromised to win his role, McCarthy’s challenge is like herding cats, rather than leading a “democratic” Republican party.
