Old Man Winter isn’t done with Maine just yet. Two storm systems will impact the Pine Tree state this week.
The first is a weak, fast-moving system bringing a warm front through the region Monday. The front will be moisture-starved, so I don’t expect more than an inch of snowfall accumulation for northern and western Maine.
Look for the light snow to end during the day Monday with some of it changing to rain as temperatures will be getting close to 40 degrees. Maine roads will mostly be OK thanks to the April sun angle.
Storm No. 2 moves in Wednesday into Thursday of this week. Precipitation will “overrun” colder temps in the wind-sheltered valleys and foothills of western and northern Maine.
A first look at ice accumulations show numbers getting up to 1/3 of an inch, which would cause slippery travel but not widespread power outages.
However, the storm is not set in stone yet, with a few days to get more data into the weather office. Here’s what I know and don’t know at this point:
