I was shocked and embarrassed to read Sen. Susan Collins’ weak statement after the news of Donald Trump’s indictment by the Manhattan district attorney (“Maine’s congressional delegation reacts to Trump indictment,” March 31).

While Collins could write and deliver a long floor speech about her support of a Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who misled her, she seems unable to find words to take a position about the indictment of a former president.

Where is the courage of Margaret Chase Smith?
