Interstate 295 north of Portland reopened after 1 p.m. on Monday following a late morning accident near Mile Marker 10 in Falmouth on the northbound side, which backed up traffic for miles.

The crash resulted in serious injuries, according to Maine State Police, but officials have not yet said how many people were injured, NewsCenter Maine has reported.

Maine State Police said they would release details later this afternoon.
