A Tremont woman whose body was found in a ditch in Southwest Harbor on Sunday died of blunt force trauma from what police believe was a hit-and-run crash, Maine State Police said Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate the death of 35-year-old Amber Robbins, but do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

A passerby found Robbins’ body near 61 Main St. around 11:30 a.m. Sunday and called 911. Police closed Main Street while they investigated.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area Saturday night or Sunday morning to call 973-3700.

Southwest Harbor is a small town on Mount Desert Island with a population of about 1,700 people.
