Three people involved in a crash on the Maine Turnpike in Kennebunk on Friday were taken to the hospital, while a dog traveling in one of the cars ran off and was later found dead.
Kennebunk Fire and Rescue responded to a two-car accident on the turnpike early Friday evening and found that one car had overturned and its passengers were trapped inside, according to a department Facebook post. Three people were transported to the hospital, but the type and severity of their injuries was not reported.
Kennebunk Fire and Rescue also posted that as one of the people was being freed, a black Lab-husky mix dog ran out of the vehicle and went missing.
Later, a relative posted online that the dog’s body had been recovered.
