S. Andrew Besemer, 70, of Fayetteville New York, and Kennebunk, entered unto rest on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on Nov. 20, 1952, he was the son of William and Roberta Besemer. After earning an associate degree in horticulture, he spent the last 22 years working as a real estate salesperson and before those 20 years-plus as co-owner of Flower’s Etcetera before retiring in 2021. He was also a parishioner of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Passionate for antiques and home furnishing, Andrew was an avid restorer of historic homes. In addition, he was a devoted nature and flower enthusiast. He was a member of the University Neighborhood Preservation Association, Animal Welfare Society, Kennebunk Land Trust, Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors, and the Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister-in-law, Donna Cassavaw; brother-in-law, Alexander Myers; and three furry Pekes, Buddy, Buster and Mr. Chang.
He spent 53 years with his best friend, life partner, husband, and love of his life, Timothy Cassavaw, who he married in 2018. Additionally, he is survived by sisters, Patricia, Jackie, and Valerie of Rochester, New York, Debbie of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kathy of San Antonio; and brothers, Robert of Port Charlotte, Florida, Simon of Philadelphia, Michael of Orange, Virginia, and Danny of Canton, New York.
Andrew’s family was further enhanced with many close friends who became part of his family over the years, especially John and Joy Cerio and Rich Jaeger, who were a part of the wedding celebration.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 o’clock on Friday, Oct. 20 at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk. Friends are welcome to participate.
