A Gorham woman who had been reported missing died in a crash on the Maine Turnpike early Wednesday.

Maine State Police say Jean Robinson, 78, pulled over just before the southbound ramp at Exit 80 in Lewiston, then turned left into the travel lane. Her car was struck broadside by a passing tractor-trailer around 2:30 a.m.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 63-year-old David Alicea of Nashua, New Hampshire, was not injured.

Gorham police issued a silver alert on Tuesday for Robinson, who had cognitive impairment, after she failed to arrive in Southwest Harbor.

State police continue to investigate the crash.
