It has been four years since a huge victory for public beach recreation was secured at Goose Rocks Beach (Almeder v. Town of Kennebunkport, 2019).

It has been four years since a book was published showing that all along Maine’s coast, town beaches were unjustly made private (“The Great Land Grab – Maine Beaches Ripped from the True Owners: The Towns’ Inhabitants,” Dr. Edwin A. Churchill and Robert A. Yarumian II, 2019).

Yet with public recreation disputes raging on at Moody Beach in Wells, the town of Wells has done nothing to follow this precedent and paper trail, and to restore public recreation at Moody Beach.

It’s been 34 years since the Maine Supreme Judicial Court decision was made (Bell v. Town of Wells, 2019) that squashed public recreation rights at Moody Beach. Wells, it’s time to act.
