Violence and assaults are taking place in Portland’s homeless encampments and Portland’s Health and Human Services and Public Safety Committee seems to have gone silent. Councilor April Fournier is the chair of this committee and is seeking reelection this November as city councilor at-large.

Bill Linnell, who is running against Fournier, has almost two decades of experience dealing with the issues that are a priority in Portland at this moment. Bill has a proven track record of dealing successfully with the at-risk population and those with substance abuse problems. As someone who has served twice on a town council in another town, I believe he will address the urgent crisis confronting Portland.

I urge city residents to vote for Linnell in November. Let’s deal with the problems facing Portland.
