Sanford police say reports of an active shooter at Southern Maine Health Care hospital were false.

A spokesperson for the department said Friday afternoon they were called to Southern Maine Health Care around 2 p.m. about an active shooter. 

But they and other neighboring agencies who responded quickly determined that the call was actually from a patient having a mental health crisis.
