Summer’s closing in, which means it’s time to hit the beach, including East End Beach in Portland. East End Beach is part of the Eastern Promenade area that was designed in 1905 by the Olmsted Brothers landscape firm. Here are some sunbathers and swimmers enjoying themselves at East End Beach in a photo that was published in the Portland Press Herald on July 17, 1953.
