Bates to award degrees to about 450 graduates
The school is also awarding three other honorary degrees to leaders in the environmental, education and medical fields.
LEWISTON — The co-founder and chairman of Stonyfield Farm organic yogurt company is delivering the keynote address at Bates College’s 147th graduation ceremony.
Gary Hirshberg is also receiving an honorary degree at Sunday’s commencement. Hirshberg co-founded Stonyfield Farm in New Hampshire in 1983 and helped grow it into a $400 million company.
About 450 graduates are receiving degrees at the ceremony. They come from 35 states and 28 countries.
The school is also awarding three other honorary degrees to leaders in the environmental, education and medical fields.
