AMHERST, Mass. – Kayte Holtz, Ariana Bourque and Rachel Kennedy scored first-period goals and Bowdoin held on for a 3-1 win over Amherst in a NESCAC women’s hockey regular-season finale.
Kayla Lessard made 36 saves for the Polar Bears (18-4-2, 12-3-1). Chelsea MacNeil had two assists, and Bourque and Kennedy each had one.
Emily Flom scored in the second period for the Jeffs (12-10-1, 10-5-1).
Bowdoin clinched the second seed in the NESCAC tournament and will host seventh-seeded Williams at 4 p.m. Saturday.
HAMILTON 5, COLBY 4: Hannah Jaiven scored a power-play goal 1:16 into overtime to lift the Continentals (13-10-1, 7-8-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (10-14, 4-12) at Clinton, N.Y.
Samantha Slotnick scored twice and Annie Papadellis added a goal and an assist for the Mules, who led 4-2 before giving up a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation.
Colby finished eighth in the conference and will play at top-seeded Middlebury on Saturday.
NORTHEASTERN 7, MAINE 2: Kendall Coyne had two goals for the Huskies (18-10-2, 10-7-1 Hockey East), who scored the first five goals in a win over the Black Bears (2-15-2) at Orono.
Rachel Bellio and Abbey Cook scored in the third period for the Black Bears, who were outshot 40-19.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
NHTI 81, SMCC 73: Ahntawn Harris scored 21 of his game-high 25 points in the first half as the Lynx raced to a 51-33 lead and held off the Seawolves (20-11) in the semifinals of the Yankee Small College Conference Tournament at Auburn.
Jose Nouchantaung and Jon Amabile scored 17 points apiece to pace Southern Maine CC.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 81, SMCC 33: Maggie Sabine had 23 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists for the Mustangs (21-4), who opened with a 23-2 run and cruised to a win over the Seawolves (17-9) in the semifinals of the Yankee Small College Conference Tournament at Auburn.
Jaimi Poland led Southern Maine CC with nine points and five steals.
BASEBALL
AUBURN 8, MAINE 4: Colin Gay had a pair of hits, including a solo home run, for the Black Bears (0-4) as they fell to the Tigers (4-0) at Auburn, Ala.
Auburn trailed 3-1 before breaking the game open with a six-run sixth inning, keyed by Jordan Ebert’s go-ahead, two-run single.
Sam Balzano also had two hits for the Black Bears.
